About Yide Mansion (Lin Mao-Yang Mansion)
Yide Mansion, the former home of businessman Lin Mao-Yang, was built in the 1920s during the Japanese colonial era and is now a registered historic building of Taichung City, 2.2 km from Mr.Petter. The complex combines a southern Fujian courtyard house, Japanese wooden details and a red-brick Baroque-style mansion with arched verandas and brick columns. Beside it stands a smaller villa known locally as the concubine's house, which reflects how wealthy families lived at the time. The city has turned the site into a cultural park with exhibition space, the Xinyuan cafe and a small restaurant. Tip: entry is free, and it is about 7 minutes by car. Opening hours follow the official announcements, so check before you go.
