Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum
Formerly Beitun New Village, a housing compound for Air Force officers, now a free museum of military dependents' village life with restored houses and nostalgic shop displays.

About Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum
Beitun New Village was built as housing for Air Force officers of field grade and above, and it is one of the military dependents' villages (juancun) still preserved in Taichung. In 2018 it reopened as the Taichung Military Kindred Village Museum. Three or four of the original houses remain, along with a exhibition house and recreated spaces such as a barbershop, a shaved-ice shop, an old-style grocery and a restaurant. Old photos, household objects and multimedia displays show everyday village life and Taiwan's outdoor banquet (bando) culture. It is 3.1 km from Mr.Petter, about 12 minutes by car. Tip: entry is free and a visit takes 20 to 30 minutes. Check the museum's official social media for opening hours, special exhibitions and weekend markets.
